Verizon Moto G owners are officially starting to get their taste of the chocolaty goodness that us Nexus users have been enjoying for some time now. If you already own a Moto G or were thinking about upgrading to one on VZW, you can now do so happily knowing that you’ll be able to experience the newest that Android has to offer. Kitkat of course comes with some minor changes like UI tweaks, as well as ART runtime and some bug fixes, but most of that stuff is known already since the update has been out since the Nexus 5 launch last year. Still, it’s always exciting to rehash some of the details for newcomers to the party, and can especially get those users excited about having the updated software.
This isn’t the first Moto G to get the update to Kit Kat, as Moto G owners in Europe have been enjoying the 4.4.2 update for a few weeks now. Now as with all updates, they are incremental and begin rolling out in waves. So if you don’t have it right now just remember to check your status bar throughout the day, and it can’t hurt to tap the check for updates button in settings every so often as well. There is also a chance that you may not get the update today. If that’s the case, fear not as it will roll out to you in time and it really just boils down to a waiting game. At the very least, expect to see the update hit your phone most likely by the end of the week. Some users are already reporting the update as hitting their phones, so it shouldn’t be long before others start to receive the same treatment.
If you are one of the lucky users who has already updated, you’ll now have access to the new Moto gallery app that was updated just recently, which is also available for download in the Play Store for select Motorola devices. If you have gotten the update on your own Verizon Moto G, how do you like it so far? Are you a fan of the new gallery app or did you prefer the old one? Does the phone appear to be any snappier than it was before? Share your thoughts in the G+ post.
